Captain's Player

Terms of Use

Captain's Player is a media player only. It does not provide, sell, host or include any channels, movies, series or other content, and it is not affiliated with any content provider. To watch anything you add a playlist from a source you are entitled to use. Any purchase unlocks app features only; it never includes or gives access to content.

Who we are. Captain's Player is made by Captains Media Limited, No. 5, 17/F, Strand 50, 50 Bonham Strand, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong ("we"). Contact: support@captainsplayer.com. Using the app means you accept these terms.

1. A media player only. Captain's Player plays media from sources that you add. We do not provide, host, sell, store, recommend or control any content, and no playlist, channel or stream comes with the app. Showing a playlist in the app is not an endorsement of it, and we have no relationship with the providers of playlists that users add.

2. Your responsibility. You may only add and play sources you own or are authorised to use, and only in line with the laws that apply to you. You must not use Captain's Player to watch, record, copy or share content without the rights holder's permission. Recordings are for your own private viewing only, where the law and your provider allow recording.

3. Allowed uses (examples). Your own media and home media server; free-to-air and other publicly offered streams; services you subscribe to that offer a playlist; private streams of a business, hotel, school or event that you are authorised to show; testing streams during development.

4. Licence. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on a device you own or control. One licence covers one device (its Device ID). You may not copy, resell, modify, decompile or reverse-engineer the app, or remove these notices.

5. Free trial and licences. A new device gets a 7-day free trial. After it, the app asks for a licence (1 year or lifetime) before you can keep using it. A licence can be bought on captainsplayer.com/setup, or activated by an authorised reseller. "Lifetime" means for as long as we offer Captain's Player for that device. A licence unlocks app features only. It never includes content, and it does not move to another device unless we or your reseller agree.

6. Payments and refunds. Prices are shown before you pay. Card payments are processed by our payment provider (Airwallex); we never see or store your card number. Please use the free trial before buying: payments are not refundable once the licence is active, except where the law gives you a right that cannot be waived, or where we decide case by case. Purchases made in an app store follow that store's refund rules.

7. No warranty. The app is provided "as is". We do not promise that it will work with every device, playlist or provider, or without interruption. Problems with a playlist or its content are for that provider to fix.

8. Limitation of liability. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for anything arising from content you play or record. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us for the licence in the last 12 months. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Copyright notices. We host no content. If you believe Captain's Player is being used to infringe your rights, or our app or website contains your material, write to support@captainsplayer.com with the subject "Copyright notice": who you are, the work, where you saw the problem, and how to reach you. We will respond in good faith and act in line with the law, including ending licences of users who infringe.

10. Ending use. You can stop using the app at any time. We may suspend or end a licence if the app is used to break these terms or the law, without a refund.

11. Changes. We may update these terms. For important changes we will tell you in the app first. Using the app after a change means you accept it.

12. Law. These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, unless the consumer law of your country gives you stronger rights. The English version prevails over translations.
